Mariah Carey

E=MC(2)
4/5
"E=MC(2)" has shown media and fans alike that Mariah Carey has no intention of leaving the spotlight, ever. The album is full of tracks that will grace the radio airwaves well into 2009, and beyond. Surprisingly, the album does not even have any commonalities from previous albums. Mariah may finally get the due she has deserved for reinvention. Sure, she lost her way for a bit there, but most artists do.
Her first single off “E=MC(2),” entitled “Touch My Body,” is blowing up. “O.O.C” is sassy. Ballads have always been a strong point for Mariah and “Love Story,” and “Last Kiss” are no exception. "Bye Bye," the latest single, is an incredibly heart-felt track many will be able to relate to because of the loss of a loved one. “Side Effects” has a darker edge and Mariah takes a brief step away from her usual formula.
The ending of the album was a surprise to many, some not so thrilled with the proverb and gospel influenced track “I Wish You Well.” However, it was a nice touch to end the album with, and makes one wonder what a gospel album would sound like if Mariah was to do one.
Many tracks, if not all, definitely ask to be on repeat.
