Cobra Starship

When the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets

2/5

When the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets is the debut album from New York based Cobra Starship. Dance, Pop, and Rock elements are all present here. Normally I would welcome the diverse mix of sounds, but it didn't work for me in this case.

"Send my Love to the Dancefloor - I'll See you in Hell" and "The Ballad of Big Poppa and Diamond Girl," are two of the more tolerable tracks, danceable songs you might let loose to while smashed at a club.

Cobra Starship's debut single "Bring it" was on the soundtrack for the movie Snakes on a Plane, another catchy dance song (even if it is about snakes.) The rest of the album seems to be lacking substance, it all sounds too repetitive. It's a shame, I wanted to like this one.

Key Tracks: Send my Love to the Dancefloor - I'll See you in Hell (Hey Mister DJ,) The Ballad of Big Poppa and Diamond Girl, Bring it (Snakes on a Plane)
