Broadway Calls

Self-Titled
3.5/5
Oregon's own Broadway Calls present to you their self-titled debut album. I had my
reservations before listening to Broadway Calls; I thought this was going to be another
pop-rock album filled with repetitive love songs and attempted angst-filled lyrics. To my
surprise, the album delivers and I was pleasantly impressed.
I'm all for songs that expose the inner thoughts and emotions of the singers, especially
when it's raw and you can feel the sincerity. One of my favourite songs on the album is
"A Rush and a Push and the Land is ours," lead vocalist Ty Vaughan sings "They said
there's too much caffeine in your bloodstream/and a lack of real spice in your life/I
said leave me alone because I'm alright Dad/just surprised to be on my own." The edgy and
up-beat "Bad Intentions" and "Suffer the Kids" are other notable tracks, as well as the
short but catchy "Save our Ship."
A solid effort from this relatively unknown band from Oregon; I hope Broadway Calls
returns a second time around.
Key Tracks: A Rush and a Push and the Land is ours, Bad Intentions, Suffer the Kids, Save
our Ship.
