Biffy Clyro

Puzzle

3.5/5

“Puzzle” is Biffy’s fourth release. While many labels create massive hype for artists when an artist releases the first album, slow and steady has instead been the recipe of success for Biffy. “Puzzle” will now introduce Biffy to mainstream listeners.

Acoustic tracks are “Drop It” and “Machines.” Rock tracks are “Semi-mental” and “Saturday Superhouse.” Rock ballad tracks are “The Conversation Is..,” and “As Dust Dances 2/15ths.” “Saturday Superhouse” helped Biffy break into the top 15 for the first time.

There are a few disappointments: “Folding Stars” has the potential to have an amazing multi-harmony chorus, but falls short. “Dust Dances” stretches on for too long and does not seem to get to a memorable hook.

”Puzzle” packs an emotional punch thanks to Biffy's sideways approach to song writing.
