With “An Ocean Between Us,” As I Lay Dying has raised the bar, while staying true to their signature elements. The lyrics are full of symbolism and extremely thought-provoking. There is a lot more singing (and cleaner vocals) on the album, and this has definitely allowed AILD to grow artistically.

"Seperation" sets the tone for the album. "Nothing Left", and "Comfort Betrays” are highlights. “Destruction” is faster than old AILD tracks and has a more aggressive feel because of it.

As long as AILD can continue to raise the bar and remain innovative, there is no where but up from this point on.
