The Backstreet Boys

Never Gone
4/5
Nearly five years later, The Backstreet Boys don’t
want one to see “Never Gone” as a comeback,
but rather as them never leaving the spotlight.
Their lyrics are still babe magnets; the tracks
are similar to what they became famous for (Safest
Place To Hide, Never Gone). Cribbing their old style
is successful as The Backstreet Boys mark the return
of pure pop magic. Anyone who has been dumped recently
will once again find solace within “Never
Gone.”
Previously in the 90’s, BSB were known for
smash hits such as “Larger Than Life”
and “Everybody,” songs you could move
to. “Never Gone” doesn’t come
across as an album full of upbeat excitement. Being
rather mellow, the disc appeals to the older generation,
probably to help pad longevity.
Ready to once again take on the world, Never Gone
will renew the faith each fan had in The Backstreet
Boys, and pull in new followers along the way. Trying
for deeper lyrics and an edgier sound created a
representation of the band going through growing
pains of its own.
