What should people
expect when they buy
the album?
There are only 11
songs. I think the thing
that stands out most
about the album is that
all the songs kinda
go for their own vibe
instead of , I mean
people say you make
albums and make all
the songs stick together
and sound the same.
It does, but the thing
that sets it apart is
that it has a lot of
variety and every song
has its own personality.
Based on your personality,
if you were an ice cream
flavour, what would
you be?
I'd be frosted mini
wheat flavoured ice
cream.
In your opinion,
what is the best piece
of music ever written?
I'd say “U Say Me”
by Lionel Richie.
If you could walk
into any painting and
actually experience
the moment it depicts,
which painting would
you choose?
“The Kramer.”
Could you talk
about the following
tracks?
-Perfect Time of
Day:
It kind of sounds
like it's gonna be a
morbid song but its
not really. It’s a seize
the moment song. “U
got to seize the moment”
because you never know
when you might run out
of time here. It’s a
little depressing, but
mostly it was supposed
to be up lifting kind
of a “seize the moment”.
-You and A Promise:
It's sort of a song
I wrote about getting
screwed over again and
again, and my theory
that nothing works.
It starts out about
a story of a girl who
has her boyfriend walks
out on her or whatever.
He sort of goes out
into the world and then
everybody sort of shuts
the door on him and
so he finds out what
goes around comes around
and uh, the same time
nothing works.
What do you think
is the most soothing
sound?
I little baby chicks
[ baby chick sound effects].
I think that’s very
soothing but we have
to have at least 10
of them in an incubator.
If you were completely
blind but could somehow
see for one hour each
week, how would you
spend that time?
I dunno that would
take some thought. Lets
see it would be when
I was awake, one a week
? or a day? I dunno
it would have to be
a pretty big deal, maybe
I'd hang out with some
friends and we would
all sit around in a
circle and watch an
hour long movie or something.
Maybe I'd have my friends
edit movies down to
an hour so I can watch
them every week.
If you could recover
one thing you've lost
in your lifetime, what
would you wish to find?
I had a guitar. I
had it for about 5 years.
I sorta learned how
to play acoustic guitar
on it and one time it
fell out of the back
of the trailer and It
got run over by a bunch
of tracker trailers.
I miss it.
When you approach
an album or idea, does
one song set the tone?
An idea for a song?
Umm not really. One
tone sets the tone for
that song, and I try,
if anything , to make
the next song not sound
like that one. Maybe
in a weird way yes,
but only because your
trying to make it a
bit different.
What track was
most challenging to
write and why?
I think probably
"You and a promise"
was difficult because
it has a pretty gritted
rhyme scheme and that
sort of thing. I didn’t
want it to come off
as cheesy, but I wanted
it to tell a story at
the same time and not
sound forced. That was
one of the more difficult
ones.
If you had to be
represented by an object
in your home, what would
you choose?
An object in my home?
I'd be my fish.
Do you ever think
about history and that
possibly in 20 years
people may look back
on your words and see
how you painted a picture
of a different time
in rural life?
That would be cool.
No I don’t really think
about that, but that
would be cool.
Do you have anything
you'd like to say to
the readers of popYOUlarity.com?
Hi! Just wanna say
hi--- just sayin' hi!
